SAN Data Protection
Ensuring that critical primary data is fully protected and instantly available despite unplanned downtime or disasters is a challenge for any IT professional. In addition exponential data growth is causing many organizations to implement storage area network (SAN) solutions in order to effectively consolidate, share, and manage storage capacity. IT professionals need a primary storage solution that ensures critical data is automatically safe, readily available, and always there.
The Overland ULTAMUS™ RAID nearline data protection appliances deliver enterprise-class features, built-in data protection, and simplified capacity management. ULTAMUS™ RAID storage arrays are a new breed of storage solutions that provide the advanced features, performance and flexibility to make IT department’s as efficient and dynamic as the businesses they support.

Disk Backup and Recovery Appliances
Exponential data growth, shrinking backup windows, fast data restores, and new government regulations make data protection a challenge for any storage manager. The REO SERIES® Disk Backup and Recovery Appliances solve these challenges by providing fast, reliable data backup and recovery. That's why storage managers have implemented the REO SERIES more than any other disk-based backup appliance*. The REO SERIES provides:
- Flexible Functionality - REO SERIES disk backup and recovery appliances can be easily configured as a virtual tape library, standalone virtual tape drives, and/or disk volumes (LUNs).
- Easy Integration - compatible with all popular open systems or Windows-based backup software, physical tape drives or tape libraries and easily connects to Ethernet (iSCSI) or Fibre Channel networks for seamless integration into existing backup environments.
- Disk Backup Performance - when configured as virtual tape, data is written sequentially and in large blocks for fast, reliable disk backup and recovery operations.
- Dynamic Virtual Tape - patent pending technology, which automatically sizes virtual tape cartridges to match the exact capacity requirements of the backup operation. Ensures that no capacity is wasted and eliminates the manual effort and guesswork of sizing, configuring, and provisioning virtual tape cartridges.
- Virtual Tape Library (VTL) - when configured as a VTL, provides user definable virtual tape library drives, cartridges, and partitions.
- REO® Protection OS™ - embeds data protection intelligence to deliver a core set of volume and device virtualization, management and connectivity features. Also allows the REO SERIES hardware platform to be easily enhanced via current and future software PAC options (e.g. Overland REO™ Multi-SitePAC™).
